Thordon Bearings

What can make an engineer fall in love?

We thought, perhaps, a vibrant new website highlighting the numerous attractions of a grease-free polymer bearing that lowers costs, eliminates pollution and out-wears metal. Thordon Bearings, a Canadian manufacturer selling to the shipbuilding industry worldwide, asked us for help lifting their online presence out of the industrial rust.

Gather.

Our budget was modest; so our approach was direct

We interviewed leaders and researched competitors. What would resonate with end-users globally? How could we best assist Thordon’s distributors in selling in many different countries? Our client told us we exceeded in understanding the market.

Shape.

We considered all the questions. The environmental benefits, the ease of installation, the regulatory upsides were all taken on board. But the key point we hit upon was the unique, ultra-cool polymer material itself-the single source from which all the benefits flowed. This was the thing an engineer could love.

Build.

It was about creating an emotional connection. We took the vibrant orange of one of their largest bearings and made it the big, bold theme of a website aiming to catch the eye. But we saw our task as more than building an engaging site. We wanted to position Thordon better by telling a focused, streamlined story of a beautiful material with multiple attractions.

Engage.

“We’ve never had this kind of visibility.”.

Our client reports a significant increase in traffic. They have never had as many leads and enquiries come in through their site or received as many positive notices from distributors.
